in the weeks, months, and years ahead, Americans must revisit the footage and reread the accounts of the storming of the Capitol. We need to viscerally remember how ugly and dangerous things got, and may get. Some people seem to invoke "civil war" as if it would be the greatest thing that could happen now. America needs to watch the horrors witnessed in Africa and Europe and realize how our pretty damn sweet lives here would be totally upended. Say goodbye to medical appointments, your job, trash collection, and trips to the grocery store, electricity,  America! There's nothing romantic about a civil war!

I don't think most people realize how this could have gone horribly bad had things gone just a bit differently. Our political leaders could have been executed. Yet Trump, some of his cultists and their enablers in right-wing media are outraged that Trump was banished from Twitter, as if that matters! 

And can we cease referring to these people as conservatives! What an insult to true, principled conservatives!
