I hear similar from a few Repubs here in Texas.  You have to be careful when taking any decision to NOT prosecute an obvious crime in an attempt to "keep the peace."  As soon as that happens, the perpetrator, whether it be Trump (on many things) or Hillary Clinton or her employees (illegally destroying evidence - and that DID happen) starts to gain a toehold on innocence.  

I saw this happen in Venezuela when, ostensibly to keep the peace, the 1990s Rafael Caldera government pardoned Hugo Chavez for leading not one but TWO armed insurrections.  By pardoning him, his record was erased, and he became eligible to run for public office.  You know what happened next.  If there's an obvious crime, prosecute it.
