He wrote a piece a few years back on opioids that I felt was one of the best, well-researched articles I had ever read on the subject. 

He got right down into the nitty gritty and hit on all the most important parts of it that are too often left out - for example, the "why" of a person's feeling for a need to medicate.

Also, he really opened my eyes about the dangerousness of fentanyl and the reasons why it is so deadly (mixing it in is as unpredictable as a trump loaded gun).

I was sorry to see New York magazine cut him loose.
