I know many people's first reaction to this shitty news of her death is what 40 something, Federalist Society approved goon will succeed her. But I'd like to pause and reflect on a great, gutsy, feisty, intellectual powerhouse who overcame more odds than 99% of the justices who ever sat on the SCOTUS. We're a better country because of her. Having said that, holy shit! I'm sure there's rejoicing among most evangelicals and many Roman Catholics. Jesus has answered their prayers! Or will Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and others intervene? And I'm also thinking now of the goddamn fools who voted for Jill Stein because they just detested Hillary, or the apathetic morons who sat it out because "they're all alike". There are real and substantive differences between the two parties, with this being a glaring example. And I'm thinking, if Roe v. Wade is overturned, and abortions rights are considerably weakened, it's the poor women who will suffer, who always suffer. How they reconcile this with their savior, gentle Jesus, meek and mild, I don't know.
