Life was SHORT, NASTY, SOLITARY, and BRUTISH for 99% of human history.
That whole secular humanist side of me precludes me from thinking that Hell awaits Lindsey, but may his last days be spent in a less than comfortable state of mind and body. Perhaps a shitty Motel 6 in the less desirable parts of South Carolina.
My wise mother, who'd seen and experienced a lot in life, was convinced that Hell is here! And if people could rid themselves of the childish notions that have highjacked their worldview, they'd see it too, and realize we best do our best here, in the only world there is, the natural world, to minimize the incomprehensible suffering that so many of our species have to endure. Let's face it, if you're participating here at DBIS, you've pretty much hit the lottery of life. You're in a first-world country with electricity, air-conditioning, an abundance of food and fresh water, indoor plumbing (the importance of which can't be overstated), antibiotics, the rule of law (for now), largely defanged religions, higher education, and a commitment to enlightenment values which are best seen through scientific advancement! But screw Lindsey Graham and his traitorous brethren, may his last days not allow him to obtain comfort from these achievements.
