We're a few episodes into Red Oaks. Not sure if it'll will work in the same way that Freaks and Geeks, Dazed
and Confused, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High did...but we'll give it some more time. I'm not sure that the
quality of the writing is there but it's still early. And those flicks had some really fine performances. The
young actress who plays Paul Reiser's daughter on Red Oaks grew up just a few minutes from us, went to the
local high school, and appeared in a lot of local theatre productions when she was young. What is it about
"coming of age" films that pulls so many of us in? Perhaps it's because the film treatments offer what we
wished we had experienced? Peter T.
