Gents,All very well said, and yes, don't you wonder what the three amigos really are thinking? I do believe that most
males tend to dig in when it comes to having their positions challenged. It's a rare man who'll publicly admit
that he was wrong in so many, many ways. That fragile male ego is at the root of a lot of misery. All too often,
our positions are based upon emotions rather than a clearheaded assessment of the facts. We then look for
rationales to support our emotionally derived feelings and intuitions. In some ways we're fairly well evolved
primates, in others, there's work to do, and, as Darwin said, we bear the stamp of our lowly origin. Hell, Trump
is the poster boy for this sad reality.I'm looking ahead to January 22, 2019, and that's a year in Trumpistan. What will dear leader's next State of
the Union Address be like? Typically, there's that inane, obligatory stand/applaud/sit, stand/applaud/sit
exercise but I wonder if this year will be different. Wouldn't the patriotic thing be to stay seated and simply
glare or shake your head at the son of a bitch? Heathcliff raised the question of Russia's possible invasion of Ukraine. I'm not thinking it's going to happen
but damn, would there ever be a better time for Putin? Angela is departing the world stage, Macron is on the
ropes, our allies feel betrayed, Brexit is totally consuming the Brits, Russian cyber fiends are adeptly
spreading disinformation around the world, and authoritarians, who are more likely to be inward looking and
therefore disinclined to enter global alliances, have gained power in Europe, South America, and Asia! Oh,
and Mattis can take no more of the childish insanity! Plus, we have a government shutdown looming, a
battered stock market, pullbacks in Syria and probably Afghanistan, North Korea's screw you to Trump, and a
sizable amount of the American public that embraces misinformation, doesn't read, and concerns itself with
the silliest goddamn things! Putin is kicking ass, and I sense there's a lot more kicking to come. And I didn't
even mention China!Peter T.
