as when they do it from religious conviction. Blaise PascalI'm not sure if the Pittsburgh terrorist had a religious affiliation or not but anti-semitism surely has deep roots
in the world's religions. I was recently shocked to learn that my former church, the Roman Catholic Church,
finally retracted its claim that Jews were collectively responsible for the death of Jesus in...1962! And today, the dog whistle used by those on the Right for Jews (globalists, Soros) surely keeps the embers of
hatred alive. And yes, there's a lot of anti-Semitism on the Left as well (Jeremy Corbyn and his ilk). We need to see beyond, and ultimately get beyond, these ancient and destructive superstitions. We need to
see beyond ourself, our family, our community, our nation, and our tribe. We need to recognize universal
truths and human needs. I know, good luck with that, as we're battling 250,000 years of human evolution
when those groups and institutions allowed our species to survive and prosper. We have more things in
common than we do that separate us, but that doesn't make for good television!Peter T.
