"And, Reg -- Behghazi did actually yield something for conservatives: it
helped them defeat Clinton."
I don't actually think this is true and I can explain my reasoning.
The
Benghazi nonsense was so obviously a sham that most people knew that it
was only a political sideshow.
So, I don't think it would have any actual effect on how people would
vote. The only people that would believe the Benghazi stupidity were
people that never would have voted for Hillary Clinton anyway. So, I
don't think it swayed anybody that would have cast a vote for her into
the camp of "Never Hillary!"
The Republicans did invent it to try to do damage to her but they
only
looked foolish doing so and revealed what giant liars they are.
So, the people that fell for that, whatever voters did, never would
have
voted for Hillary anyway even if the Benghazi nonsense never happened. I
think the stuff Hillary actually did hurt her far more than
Benghazi...the private server thing was amazingly stupid, and she really
did that.
Honestly, the country had reached a point where they just did not
want
any kind of "mainstream politician" on the ballot. They wanted somebody
that would take a different approach rather than "the same old politics."
This was across the board, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.
Did
not matter what "team" you were on. Anybody running that was "same old
politician" was going to struggle...and they did.
On the Republican side Trump cut through his opponents like a hot
chainsaw through butter. Mocking them, calling them names and acting like
a total clown but Republican voters ate this up because no politician
ever acted like that and he said things to and about them that they
wanted to say. Lyin' Ted, Little Marco, Jeb "Mama's boy" Bush...it was a
disgrace but they loved it.
And I have to admit when it was happening I laughed a lot because it
was
so insane and over the top...and his opponents could not figure out what
the hell to do against him. I have to admit I never thought that "Mr.
Grab Them by the Pussy!" could win in the main event though. Republican
voters, the supposed "values voters", the "conservatives", never would
vote for a guy that had no respect for women, families, religion, and
thought that bankruptcy was a brilliant business move because you can
waste other people's money and walk away laughing.
Trump did not represent anything the Republican party and
conservatives
stood for. So, how could he win?
Well, he did not beat Hillary...Hillary and the Democrats beat
Hillary.
Trump intentionally ran a losing campaign. It was a joke. He was not
trying to win, nor did he want to win. He was just trying to be a circus
clown so he could get his own circus on television.
This is the worst thing the Democrats have to face. They pushed Trump
over the top. They did it.
In Michigan there were more than 50,000 ballots that had been filled
out
where the voter voted Democrat across the board...but they left the the
section for president blank. Meaning these voters were Democrats that
could not bring themselves to vote for Hillary Clinton.
A mistake? Absolutely. Had they voted for Clinton, Trump would not
have
won Michigan. You can bet this did not just happen in Michigan...so, as
much as I am amazed and appalled that people could vote for Trump, I am
disgusted that the DNC tied a rope around their neck, tied the other end
to a giant boulder, and then tossed it over the side of the boat and
yelled "Don't worry! We can't still swim!" as they sank to the bottom of
the ocean.
