So, a buddy kept harping on me to watch this show and I finally did and talk about an extremely pleasant surprise.First the good stuff......this based on fact story is told in such an irreverent way that at first, I couldn't believe it was going to work. Next, the actor portraying Pablo Escobar is almost playing him as if he is a borderline, functioning sociopath afflicted with mild autism and it also works. But be forewarned, it is a graphically violent show, but still, one worth a look. Next, in the first season portraying the battle, for the US Government to get fully involved in the drug war agencies such as the DEA must show a tie to guess what? Yep, Russian backed communist spread. The show cuts in snippets of comments by Reagan and Bush Sr which is really funny being the state we are in now where the Rethuglican Party is now in an erotic political dance with all things Russia. Lastly, in a way, this period is also a precursor into our current opioid crisis, though we learned absolutely nothing from the cocaine binge of the 80's and 90's....all we did learn was to switch the drug of choice.....
