Icon Conclusion/ Poem for Dan J..

I love my brother Lloyd's poetry.  He only writes 'em once in a while, since he is so busy with work and family life, but every one of them really does something to me.  A little bit in the early Leonard Cohen vein, and mostly his own.  He sent me this, which he wrote about Dan's recent passing.  Dan and Lloyd were classmates, and Lloyd introduced me to Dan in the first place.  Hope you enjoy.  I keep begging Lolo to assemble all of his poems into one mini-volume and get 'em published; maybe one day.

Conclusion – 7/28/03

Cut me a slice of

His bright star,

now a crescent scythe of moon

That fell down,

His sky gone black

A plummet glancing our arms stretched for carriage,

Springing tears, not blood

We searched for other lights, some signal of him

Blinking into the dark,

And emerged from rain in every house

with prayer books and shawls, citing remembrance,

of few years to get here

and fewer still to fade away,

Bewildered,

my giant is gone.
