This is of a piece with so much of what the Trump administration is undermining on a daily basis. We're living through the trampling of long-established norms of civil behavior, of the importance of facts and evidence, of what is proper and decent. And it's all being done in public. The biggest revelation for me is that one-third of Americans are truly ignorant and lacking in values. And let's not discount the dangerous racial angle that is all too frequently on display. Can our institutions hold up to this onslaught? I had no idea that there were so few honorable Republicans in government. I wonder what effect the toxicity of these times will have on young people. After Trump won, I wrote here how I had a better understanding of how national socialism took root in 1930s Germany. That understanding has only deepened over the last year. If Mueller is fired, I will be holding a sign to protest it!

The few conservatives who used to post here, who may well be lurking about, are truly cowards for not speaking up and speaking out! Unpatriotic cowards, and you know who you are!
