The media sure does love fear.

I live in  a city of 200K, with a metro pop of about a half million. On the local news this morning, the anchor says "the police warn of a sudden rash of car burglaries". They then showed a map of the city and surroundings, and there were maybe eight dots on it, pretty evenly spread across the whole town - and that was over a several day stretch.

They then launched into several things we must all do to halt this terrible crime wave. The police even postponed their relentless war on drugs for a moment to pile on.

I wonder how many people are going to lose sleep over it? Better go get some motion detector lights at home depot!
