As the fog clears since the election, and yes, it's been slow to dissipate, I've resolved to compile a list of all of
the pre-election outrageous statements and actions that Trump said and did (I know, good luck with that)
because I don’t want to forget all of the things that were clearly out there for everyone to see, and judge, and
VOTE ON. And yet, so many Americans didn’t give a damn! Not the Billy Bush video, not the threats to Hillary,
not the slaps to POWs, Gold Star families, the handicapped, women, Mexicans, Muslims, the generals, etc. I
don’t want to forget all the contractors he swindled, the Trump University grads he bilked, the blacks who he
and dear old dad would not rent to, the 15 year old girls he ogled in those pageant dressing rooms, the 12
women he probably molested, the long-promised tax returns, the willingness to race-bait, the unwillingness
to disavow the David Dukes out there, the threat of not accepting the election results,
and of course the admiration shown to Putin. There are of course
countless other lies, large and small, that don’t come to mind as there are limits to one’s memory, but they are
of a piece. I'll let others tackle the herculean task of chronicling all of the toxic waste that will spill forth once
he assumes power.
You know, the decades fly by, you grow up, you assume that education is working and people’s critical
thinking skills are advancing with each passing generation. You think people are becoming more thoughtful,
informed, and tolerant. But no. So many either regressed or had never made progress in the first place, or are
just plain rubes. And you now gain a bit of insight into how 1930s Germany took root. And you also lose
confidence in your own assessment of your fellow citizens.
Until this election, I never thought my wife and I would need to engage in public protests.
