While listening to two Australian bands, I have discovered references to Saul Bellow. Melbourne band Augie March were named after a character in a book written in 1953 (The Adventures of Augie March), while The Whitlams (from NSW) have acknowledged Saul Bellow in the credits on their CD, "Eternal Nightcap". Being ignorant of the literature of this fellow, does anyone know what it is about him that inspires musicians?
