Icon PBS' American Masters, Janis Joplin - Little Girl Blue.....

If you get a chance, give this documentary a try.

Not only is it a compelling piece on Joplin, but it is also a metaphor for our collective loss in not only her dying way too soon, but also as a depressing harbinger on the future of music.

And what I mean by that is, it's my opinion, that in today's superficial world of where performance, even sonic performance, is so strongly tied to optics, I don't think a person like Joplin, especially when it comes to women, would have had the success that Joplin did back in the late 60's.

Still, to think, she died at age 27! 27! What a talent.

Another sad thing in this documentary is that recently I read where Kris Kristofferson is having cognitive difficulties and you could see it when he was interviewed.

One heartbreaking segment is when Joplin is interviewed when attending her tenth year high school reunion. She could have been vindictive, but she showed such a gracious amount of character when being interviewed.

Good show........
