remove yourself from civilization for at least 2
weeks--go on a horse pack trip, river rafting
expedition, camping/backpacking, get
someone to drop you off in a remote cabin--you
get the idea. get yourself someplace where you
CAN'T get cigarettes, and where you are
removed from the social/behavioral context in
which, typically, you would smoke or want to
smoke. this sounds like the hell boot camp way
to do it, and it is brutal, but it just might work. a
good friend quit after spending 2 weeks hiking
in the sierra backcountry. he was dropped at a
remote trailhead, and after a day out, when he
was jonesing really hard, it seemed like the
better fate to be without smokes than to trek to
the nearest store. he felt so good and was able
to BREATHE so much better by the end that he
was cured of the habit.
