Is the digital player a fixed device for your house or apartment? If so, memory has gotten pretty cheap,
and I'd recommend encoding to FLAC. There is a freeware program called MAX that will do it pretty
well, but you can also do it through Audacity if you pay a fee to get the expanded version. I can hear the difference to "real" audio when using MP3s or AAC files, but I do find 320 MP3s to be a
reasonable substitute for mobile devices used on a plane or while walking.Hope this helps.
