Yes, the driver of the truck was at fault. I actually didn't see the collision because I was looking down at my phone checking messages while waiting for the light to change. I heard the horn and the crash and looked up just in time to see the cars sorting themselves out.

I was disappointed to see that nobody got out of their vehicles to offer a hand. I had two lanes of traffic on my left and waited for them to clear before putting my bike off to the side and approaching both drivers. They were okay. Had this accident happened 15 years ago before airbags it may have been a different outcome.

I gave my email address to both drivers, telling them that I got the whole thing on video. The driver of the truck never got back to me. One of the officers who responded said that in his 27 years of police work he's never seen this sort of evidence for an accident. I told him that last year I started filming all my rides. It's easy enough to delete the files when the ride's over if I don't need them. It's just that it's getting a little stupid out there. Not that the camera will save me in any way but one never knows how the data can be used.

I have to wonder if the driver of the truck was looking at their phone when they blew through the red light?
