Every year I hear the names of new inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and I think of
the bands that will never receive the recognition that they deserve. I also cringe at many of the
artists selected as I think their contributions were often very slim. If you have a soft spot for
immaculately crafted pop songs, then look no further than The Go-Betweens. They were led by
Grant McLennan and Robert Forster. These two gents pretty much split the singing and
songwriting duties. I generally preferred Grant's contributions and have a few recommendations. Here's a tune to lift your spirits:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L33mpJO2MaEIf this strikes your fancy, do check out:Bye Bye PrideLove Goes On!Right HereLove is A SignI imagine Kathryn and Big Al could offer a few recommendations. In 1999 I had the pleasure of briefly chatting with these fellows about Aussie music. Sadly, Grant
McLennan died a few years ago. He produced some terrific solo songs that were reminiscent of
his best work while in The Go-Betweens. Peter T.
