Icon I Remember When....

Now, I can't recall what the initial appearance of what the DBInfosource looked like, but I do remember the period of when I found it. We were living iin our apt after moving back to IL from NC. I had been in my "career" job for, heck, just about four or so years and lo and behold, this skeleton like website focusing on a musician I liked was discovered most likely through a web search of some sort. Hell, it could have been an archaic search engine like Webcrawler.

Not only did I find this site, but also through crawling threw the web, I found some site that had music videos for the purpose of selling them to nightclubs.

And through the DBInfosource, it was revealed there was other visual media out there involving our guest of honor. Then of course, periodic visits by the man himself started surfacing.

And unlike so many other fan sites, this guy not only made lengthy comments and replies, but interacted with his fan base, unlike so many other people that simply would throw out a basic form letter.

Now, I don't know if the action here has dwindled because of a lack of interest or because of the changing behavior of American and Americans. We used to have lively debates over everything, but it seems like over the past ten years, we have become so numb to the shit in this country that we have become satisfied with our media that lets us be individuals, while turning us away from the contact of people.

I don't know....but I can say this....I think the collection of regulars around hear are some of the best people I've never met who have shared some really personal stories, comments and grief with those of us here. Some day I'd like to even meet some of them in person, because at the end of the day, whether people agree or not, humans have more in common than what their differences are - we've just seemed to have forgotten that.....
