Dan,

The venue probably held 500-700 people, hard to say, but it was sold out or very near to. I went with three fellow teachers (we're all 50ish), our wives, and three teenagers. The wives stayed safely in the rear and the dads and kids made it very, very close to Frank. I'd guess we were within 6-10 feet at times. We were clearly on the older side with the majority in their 20s and fewer in their 30s and older. Frank draws a small number of somewhat drunken young males. I think his extensive touring with Social Distortion, the Dropkick Murphys, and his own punk roots account for this. Anyway, two-thirds of the way through the concert, the neanderthals started slamming into each other and mounting the stage (whereupon they were happily tossed back into the crowd). One of these little shits pretty much landed on top of my daughter. Suffice it to say, my paternal instincts kick in and I grab the little bastard (really hard mind you) and yell, look you f***** a*****, that's my daughter that you hit in the head! At this point, my daughter is not all happy that I am publicly scolding/manhandling this loser. I can't win! But all in all, a magnificent, incendiary show. Turner will have an extensive fall tour in the USA so please go! And the new CD is being released here on Interscope so there should be a huge media push behind "Tapedeck Heart". We'll get a southern hemisphere review when Kathryn's daughter sees him in Perth. I'm sure the Aussie fans will be much less animated (not)!
