I just finished a marathon session of movie watching. Here are my observations:Farewell: a terrific cold war-era foreign film about a KGB agent who funnels classified
documents first to the French and then the Americans. It's based on true events and I
enjoyed it a lot. The Killing Fields: I hadn't seen this classic in decades. It still packs a hell of a punch and Dr.
Haing Ngor as Dith Pran is absolutely riveting. The Master: great performances, especially from Joaquin Phoenix, but the story didn't grab
me. I can't recommend it.Argo: Enjoyed it a lot, but wish more time was spent on providing historical context to the
Iranians anger with the US. There was only a passing mention of the CIA's involvement in
overthrowing Iran's democratically elected president and the ushering in of the shah. I'm no
apologist for the thuggish theocrats who took over in 1979 but I'm sure the average viewer
didn't get the full history lesson. The Invisible War: Find this film, watch this film, and share it with anyone who knows of a
woman who might be contemplating joining our military. This concerns women and one man
who served in various branches of the armed forces. All were raped and then further violated
by a culture and institution that wasn't interested in providing justice. The cowardly
predators within the military are found guilty only 5% of the time. This deserves to be seen.Peter T.
