I got this disc from the Lost Highway label with the standard note about how to promote it (of course there was no promotional materials). Is it me or is this disc just not that good
Hard Rock in a hard place
Management of the Hard Rock Cafe on Sixth Street will meet next week to assess whether live music will continue to play a role at the $3 million burgerteria. "That'll be one of several topics," says co-manager Steve Fleming, who admits that business overall has been disappointing since the Rock opened Feb. 27. "The timing hasn't been the best," he says of the project that started construction before 9/11, then had to endure the worst summer biz on Sixth Street since the '80s bust.
Some bad news........................
Hard Rock G.M. John Laney, who had expanded live music from every Wednesday to four times a week, was let go last week for reasons he says he can't discuss because he signed a nondisclosure agreement. A source with the venue says Laney's departure came because "the numbers just aren't where they need to be." Laney, who ran the Chicago Hard Rock before opening the Austin location, says he isn't looking to relocate. "I've lived in 31 states and five countries and I've never found a better place than Austin," he says. . .
