Watching those pathetic, ignorant bigots from the deep south is more than a little dispiriting. And
they are of course not unique to that region, but I imagine their numbers are greater down there.
It's hard to fathom such attitudes still being in circulation. Prior to showing the clip, Bill Maher
made a point of saying that the filmmaker was not cherry picking for the most loathsome
interviewees. Still, overall, the country is increasingly tolerant when it comes to gay rights and
