So interesting... Especially seeing Rodriguez in there. If you know anything of his story, you'll know he was something of a mythic figure in the Southern Hemisphere. When I was young I did not know a single household which did not have at least one vinyl copy of Cold Fact. When I was in the army, it was one of those albums, along with a few Bob Marley albums, for example, which were on permanent heavy rotation. It's timeless, it just never seems to date.

He came here in 1998 for the first time, and I was part of a 10 000 strong audience at the first of several sold out gigs to see him, backed by a South African rock band. You could see he was overwhelmed by it all. He has been back a few times since, and one of his daughters now lives here, in Wilderness in the Cape, and is friends with my nephew. He plays a mean harmonica and she has promised him that the next time her dad is out here, he will get up on stage with him... My nephew is VERY excited by this prospect!
