Hello again,

I've been away for quite some time. So long in fact it seems perhaps there may be people here who don't even know who I am. What you'll find below is my official announcement that I'll be running for president again in 2004. Share it with your friends, your family, strangers on the street, people you hate, coworkers, line your bird cage with it, or train your new puppy on it. It's only worth whatever you make of it.

                                                       Love,

                                                                 Doc

Indecent Exposure Campaign For President 2004

"Come the millenium, month twelve, in the home of the greatest power, the village idiot will come forth to be acclaimed leader." - Nostradamus

"Forget the myths the media has created about the White House. The truth is these are not very bright guys and things got out of hand. They went to far." -Deep Throat

Cabo Pasado, just south of the Equator:

My name is Dr. Wahoo Capybara. I am running for President of the United States of America in 2004. I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I am not a third party candidate. I'm not sure these actually exist anymore. It seemed in 2000 the powers that be chose to eliminate this option and third party candidates were excluded from the debates. I'd prefer you think of me as a fourth dimensional candidate, as this would seem far more appropriate. You see, I may not be very visible to the naked eye during this campaign but like the subatomic particles that help make up everything you sense as a solid surface, it could not exist without me. What I would suggest is, if you would like a good look at Dr. Wahoo Capybara, look in the mirror.

I don't mean to be cute with that comment. What I mean is as a man, I am small, alone and fragile. As an idea Dr. Wahoo Capybara or the notion of what I stand for is universal. So, in fact, I cannot as an individual be everywhere at once but if you accept into your hearts the ideas I will espouse, I can be wherever you are. I have always believed that the great refuge of man is in the hearts of others. I am grateful to any that allow me to take refuge in their hearts. I would be grateful to serve you.

Public servitude, is this not what a politician agrees to when he asks to represent you? Do those that represent you now seem grateful of this honor? There will be many questions asked during this campaign and the answers may be difficult to locate. I think it would be best though that we seek these answers together. That in the act of taking refuge in one another, in sharing the space in our hearts, we may be better equiped to find that which we seek. A better world for ourselves and the generations to come.

I have named this campaign "Indecent Exposure 2004" because I don't expect to win, but I do hope to expose for you things that may have otherwise gone undiscovered. Or, maybe I should say unconsidered. It is my greatest hope to be perceived more as an artist than a politician. Painting my vision on the fabric of your hearts, so that you might see what I see and feel what I feel. Many of you already do.

It is an easy and logical thing to see that mankind cannot be ruled by fear. That violence only begets more violence. That the measure of the greatness of a nation is not taken in dollars or military might but in how it cares for mankind and shares it's wealth as it revels in it's bounty. I can't say this is an easy thing to do. I'm not sure that it is the nature of mankind to live by these tenets but it is certainly not beyond us to try. This is where we have failed miserably.

A man named John Cheever wrote way back in the mid to late 60's "If American capitalism continues to exalt mercenary and dishonest men the economy will degenerate into the manufacture of drugs and ways of life that would make reflection - any sort of thoughtfulness or emotional depth - impossible. The media has unleashed an assault of advertising for tobacco, alcohol, and absurd motor cars that promise - quite literally promise - to enable you to forget the squalor, spiritual poverty and monotony of selfishness. Never, in the history of civilization, has one seen a great nation so singlemindedly bent on drugging itself."

It seems this is where we have arrived. I am Dr. Wahoo Capybara and I ask that you help me in my search for a cure. Thank you.
