Loss of a Friend
I was floored last night to learn of the death of a dear friend. She was among the kindest literary editors I have known, and wonderful in conversation whether at the coffee house or the bar. She had a way of making everyone with whom she engaged feel as though in that moment, he or she was the most important person in the room.
