All the stuff I've read on this indicates that it is less of a "remake" of the Duke film and more of another adaptation of the source book.

I was fine with the remake of "The Ladykillers", since the original version was British, made a long time ago, and not too many people have seen it.

I'm more bothered about Hollywood remakes of foreign films that are quite good on their own. "Let the Right One In" and "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"(although I think David Fincher is the right guy to direct the U.S. version) are at the top of that list, along with a remake of "The Vanishing" in the early 90's starring the beloved Mr. Bridges.

Other stuff I'm looking forward to in the near future are

Julie Taymor's "The Tempest" "The King's Speech" "The Next Three Days" "The Tourist" "Somewhere" and "The Illusionist" (made by the same crew that did "The Triplets of Bellville" "The Adjustment Bureau"

Things I've seen lately worth recommending: "Welcome to the Rileys" - terrific acting by James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo "Night Catches Us" - a very good small film taking place within the black power movement in Philly in the mid 70s "Conviction" - a true story with great acting by Hillary Swank and Sam Rockwell.

Not recommended - "Made in Dagenham" Trite, predictable, and sugar coated. A great story, but you should be able to predict every plot point 20 minutes in advance.
