I didn't want to weigh in about this before, but I have personal expereience.
Esophogeal Cancer is what my Mom had. It had not matasticised when she was diagnosed. She had radiation to shrink the toumor and a stoma was put in after the cancerous tissue was removed. 2 1/2 years later it spread to her lungs and brain. She was gone 6 months later. The doctor told her that Most Esophogeal Cancers are due to overindulgence in Tobacco & Alcohol (Lucky Strikes & Ancent Age in Mom's Case) Apparently, Hitchen's doctor told him the same thing.
