My reference to "safe" was in regard to how rock music has largely become a family friendly product.
Perhaps for the most part, it's always been that way. I'm not saying that every artist has to be a
provocateur, make a political statement, and challenge the status quo. Hell, I love a great hook as
much as the next listener. The Sting and Elton gigs just struck me as antithetical to what the best of
rock music has been about. And granted, these gents have rarely ever represented the best in rock
