Dave,I'm not "using tactics". I'm not a fan of Fox news. The Gaza blockade was started only after the
Hamas government had begun hostilities against Israel. There was no blockade on Gaza prior.
Thousands of rockets had been launched against Israel, prior to the blockade. Israel has a right to
defend herself. The goal of the blockade is to inspect ships, and vehicles before entering Gaza to
ensure that no weapons are being carried in and no materials which could be used as weapons or
converted into weaponry can gain entry. They have given every ship opportunity to safely dock in
Ashdod, to be inspected and goods are then transferred overland to Gaza.. Every week 10,000 tons of
food, medicine and humanitarian supplies are sent this way from Israel to Gaza. Hamas often won't
allow goods that have passed through Israel to even get to their own Palestinian people! They have
stated this precisely after the interception of the Rachel Corrie just last night. The blockade is a
rational step for Israel and legal militarily, at least according to US Department of Defense
(Commander's Handbook on the Law of Naval Operations, Section 7.7.1, D o D, July 1, 2007).
And the Cuba blockade was a complete blockade in October 1962, although Kennedy called it a
"quarantine". Now it has been softened to a status of Embargo. Israel is not blocking all goods from
entering Gaza, only weapons or materials which could potentially be used as weapons.
