From what I've seen in the press, BP has not shuffled accountability one bit.

BP CEO Tony Hayward told CBS' "The Early Show" Monday that "This is not our accident, but it's our responsibility." http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/05/03/earlyshow/main6455577.shtml?tag=contentMain;contentBody

If that's not shuffling accountability, I don't know what is. It's BP's well, it's BP's accident. Hooray that they're going to help clean up the massive amount of oil that they allowed to escape into the Gulf.

And then there is a laundry list of other stuff that makes BP's handling of this (before, during, and after) seem less than stand-up: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/05/7-secrets-bp-doesnt-want_n_563102.html

I reiterate, one accident is one too many, and emotional responses are completely warranted. For those who spend any time at all on the gulf, this event is a game-changer for many years to come. For those who make their money on the gulf, this is a bank-breaker, yet somehow I have a feeling that BP's profits will find some way to come out just fine this year.
