Two differences immediately come to mind when comparing our present economic crisis to that which we experienced during the late 70's:1. Today's interest rates are far lower.http://www.moneycafe.com/library/primeratehistory.htm2. Today's National Debt as a percentage of GDP is far higher:http://zfacts.com/p/318.htmlI can't comment on your point that the store inventories are down so dramatically as I avoid malls at all costs. However, everything is now available on-line and shipping options often allow for next day service. From a musical perspective, the Carter years were exceptionally fertile: punk exploded on the scene, with new wave to follow. If bad economic times usher in vital new music, then we have a hell of a silver lining!Peter T.
