"If they would have said trade for American only maybe this would have helped a little more but I don't think a whole lot."You mean vehicles made only in the USA? Or vehicles made by companies headquartered in Detroit (you know the ones, the ones that got bailed out or went bankrupt)? Because there are an awful lot of Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans, etc. that are assembled by US auto workers. If you do a little research, and only just a little, you'll realize that foreign-owned vehicle companies provide a hell of a lot of jobs and influence the US economy just as much, arguably perhaps more, than the Dregs of Detroit. A collapse of Toyota or Honda would have as far-reaching consequences as a collapse of any of the Detroit manufacturers."Buy American", in terms of cars, doesn't mean shit anymore. GM fabricates stuff in Mexico. Ford gets parts and some fabrication from China. Chrysler just recently got out of bed with Germany. And the common thread amongst all three is that for the last 15 years they have made crappy cars and have been out-innovated by the Germans, Japanese, and even the Koreans. The last new Detroit car I bought was in 1991, and it's probably the last unless they learn how to make good, safe, high-mileage cars at a decent price.
