"Original with me." Probably first coined by a librarian who had just written something she thought was original only to discover back in a dusty room in the basement, a book written in the 1400's which, upon perusal, included almost the exact same words she had written original to her.That didn't detract from her originality. Nothing stings quite so much as getting what you thought was a super paper back from a prof with a note to read so and so author, you do, and find he'd already said what you said, only better.Bibliography training, research tools, note taking, all train the scholar to avoid plagiarism.Don't stop reading, thinking, writing your thoughts down. Never expect your thirst for knowledge to be slaked. You have a gift, messybear, don't disparage it away with self-recrimination fed by the depression or discouragement of the day.
