Return

Today the rain lay gray across the sun and brushed the roof with the sound of a calm steady heart. It is May here and cold. in a month the yellow plastic slide will be too hot, sprinklers whooshing in the evening a welcome relief. Return to me, my friend before the corn has broken ground. Before the bean's long runner finds its catch. Return to me like the robin in lush grass on such soft feet
