Wow Gene, you really were touched by that dog eh?  Don't kick yourself over it too much though.  They don't all go to the pound.

A Boyfriend For Sydney

My master took me to the park one day,
where I presumed we were going for an afternoon of play
"Sit here by this table" he flippantly scoffed
he'd brought me there to dump me off
I was so sad sitting there as he drove away
He had left me there because it was Memorial Day

You see the family was coming and he couldn't bear
the thought of poop in the kitchen and all of that hair
and since I'm just a pup with energy to burn
jumping on guests would be an embarrassing turn

So he dumped me off in the middle of that park
hoping that someone else would find me before dark.
he didn't care with who or where I went,
all he wanted was to hide from his irresponsibleness

But my luck changed after an hour or two
a very nice lady came by and asked "who are you?"
she patted my head and said "young pup, you look lost "
"I'll see if I can help you to find your boss"
She put me in her car and drove to her son's house
who had a dog of his own and a huge doghouse

Her name was Sydney I came to discover
a beutiful bitch I now claim as my lover
she said she was lonely until I arrived
But we now live together and we both thrive

- BD - AKA Backup Dog

My mom found a puppy lost in the park just before Memorial Day. She asked me if she could keep him in my kennel while she heroically tried to locate its' owner, to no avail.  The humane society told her that it's very common for people to drop off their pets (especially untrained puppies) around holidays and that they suspected this was the case for BD.

I have a perfect facility for a high energy, pooping and peeing pup and my dog absolutely loves his company, so I've adopted him as my own and likewise for him. BD really likes being here and is doing his best to be a good dog.

That's one mutt that won't have to go to doggie jail anyway.
