Icon For what it is worth and seemingly small things...

Earlier I mentioned on June 3 my father passed away. He was a wildlife artist and a blue grass musician.

Of the late, I have created a Facebook page to memorialize his artwork.

It can be found here,

As so many of us know people like this, he was a walking pile of contradictions. He was a complex person in so many ways and in other ways, a very simple person.

When it came to his art and music, he fought hard not to compromise. We grew up dirt poor and he used his artistic talent to whore himself out and he knew it. It broke his heart to paint pictures of the hunting dogs of drunken duck hunters. It burnt him to work for Caterpillar to put food on the table. Eventually, he took a true vow of poverty to not bastardize his talent. It was not easy living with a true "starving artist." But it taught me many good things.

So, imagine my great pleasure when I sent out a bunch of "friend" requests and one of those people was to the person we all come here to appreciate. He decided to accept the "friendship" request, as did his grand sister.

As a small fish in a large pond, I can't express enough what this meant to me for my father's art.

On top of that, I think the main man here and my father had/have a very lot in common and the largest thing in common they do have is the drive for the integrity of their art.

So live on DB, share with us what you chose to and don't feel anger toward us when we feel it is not enough and when you feel we are picking your bones clean.

Like my father, I know you are one of a rare kind that will not walk among us too often.

Eric
