Now Kevin, come on!! Just because cannabis may be decriminalized, does NOT mean that driving while intoxicated (on anything...even medicines used for other conditions which can have side effects on the central nervous system), will be tolerated.
Possession of ethanol is NOT criminal, even in this country, but of course driving with even a .08 level (in this state,at any rate) will land you a DWI.
Any intoxicant is potentially dangerous, but the issue here is, if someone chooses to use an intoxicant of their own free will, and it does NOT affect/hinder/harm others, should it not be "decriminalized". Another side of the same coin; should the personal usage of drugs be considered "criminal" activity...as it is in the USA. I think Canadian politicians have taken a bold step forward. It is still a long way from becoming law; the police are putting up a strong counterattack, and their representation in Canadian Parliament are going to fight the measure.
