I have been a true fan of David Baerwald since Boomtown...When Bedtime
Stories came out in '90 I thought it was excellent album...His phrasing, lyrics and rythyms in the songs really made an impression on me...I read blogs that are critical of David; saying he is somewhat of a mediocre artist...I disagree! I believe he is a truly cerebral and thoughtful sin-ger/songwriter/poet whose lyrics really hit home with me...I've always won-dered why "All For You" didn't become a huge radio hit...Why "Dance" wasn't a bigger record...Why no one seemed to get the magnitude of "The Best Inside You", "Liberty Lies" or "Stranger"...Eventhough A&M saw his talent when he went with the label, it's as if they just just let his music foun-der...Why?...I am 58 years old...I have been in the radio broadcasting business since 1971 and I know what "good music" is because I've heard a lot of shit over the years...And more shit is coming out every single day...It is incredible the number of songwriters, and the singers who sing them, who have absolutely zero integrity for themselves or the so-called
music they're cranking out...Give me a David Baerwald song or, just one of his lyrical images, anyday...The man has a soulful good heart, a beautiful mind, and his real friends are truly blessed to know him...An evening to just to talk with David over a couple of bourbons on the rocks, would be a wonderful thing...This is the first time I have ever blogged...I've always just read and laughed thinking "what do they know"...I am finally expres-sing the feelings I've had about the incredible gift David has and gives us. I am waiting for the time when he is willing (as hard as it is) to give up another pound of flesh and love from "the best inside him"...I waiting for that time!!...Until then I continue to delve into his music daily...
"Bedtime Stories" are "anytime" stories.Thank you, David !!
