Well this is something I never expected to read about on dbis! If you are familiar with the Rodriguez story, then you will know that for many years, while virtually unknown in his native USA, he was a hugely popular phenomenon in South Africa.... Cold Fact is a cult album owned by more households in SA than almost any other album.
In 1998 he toured here for the first time, after a South African journo tracked him down, and I saw him... He kept walking around in a daze, staring out at the sea of faces (a crowd of about 10 000) and saying 'thanks for the bread man...'
He was backed by brilliant SA band Big Sky on that tour, as he did not have a band at the time. (He apparently had to be given a guitar to play as well)That concert was actually recorded and released by Sony SA as 'Live Fact'
Coming From Reality (or After The Fact, as it was called in SA) was released on CD here in 1996 the first time, but it was taken from a good copy vinyl master... I am really keen to here the quality of this new copy, as if it is from the proper master tapes, I will gladly buy a copy... I also have a CD called 'The Best Of Rodriguez' which includes the three tracks they have included as bonus tracks on the new Coming From Reality print.Have a look at this SA website about him if you're interested Kev... http://www.sugarman.org/index.html
