Kent,
After many years of inside participation in health care, both in Canada, and the US, I have come to the conclusion that socialized medicine, in some form, is the only solution to the healthcare mess in this country. It does not necessarily need to be run by the fed, but could be administered on a state by state basis. It would get rid of the problem of "uninsured" and thereby provide access to all. Albeit, there will be some rationing, but from the amount of absurd waste I have seen in the current system, that might be a good thing. There are far too many procedures and expensive testing being done, which is driving up the cost of care. I think it is more important for the average citizen to have basic good care, and counselling by a health care provider for preventive care. Of course we need to kill all the lawyers in order to get rid of the zillions of frivolous law suits, which is causing the doctors to continue the horrendous practice of medico-legally oriented care and the never ending cascade of thereby ordering test after test, and procedure after procedure to head off a suit.
