I have to respectfully disagree with you on this. The Momentary Lapse of Reason tour was best experienced indoors, period. Still for me the best rock spectacle I've seen. Especially the bed flying out of the ceiling crashing onto the stage climaxing Signs Of Life. A friend of mine saw them indoors and out and said the effects were muted outside.

The Floyd-Waters-Gilmour debate has always been interesting. I can get wordy here, so I'll try to rein it in. First off, where do you go to after recording the Wall? The problem was Waters, the visonary of the band was then on full ego tilt, it became his basketball and that was that. The shamless treatment of Wright, the foisting of the Final Cut and Water's amazement that the rest of the band would have the "gall" to carry on the brand without him. I saw the KAOS tour play the same arena shortly thereafter albeit with less than a capacity crowd. Great show but my memory of the live DJ, Jim Ladd saying, "ROGER WATERS, WASN'T THAT GREAT?" after a lot of it still sticks in the memory.

When the acrimony of Water's lawsuit died down years later, Gilmour and the rest of the band from what I read were receptive to the notion of trying again but Waters dismissed it. Funny after more years go by and tours of Floyd music including full Dark Side treatments by both, Live 8 happens and now its Waters who wants to bury the hatchet and reunite (AKA get that one Corporate Rock tour windfall), now the shoe on the other foot. Gilmour is pretty much done, in semi-retirement, just making music with friends enjoying the spoils of his long career. Waters, instead of being somewhat chronically surly in the past is now a very friendly interview. Karma perhaps?

So much for lack of wordiness. Was there anything more to be said after The Wall? Maybe not but I'd like to think after a long hiatus and a return to a more collective (OK, I am really dreaming here) creative process, there could have been at least one more dynamic record because in spite of themselves Waters and Gilmour in their heyday added a truly unique slant on music that is sorely missed today. It was a great counterbalance.
