Transferring Music Files quesition...

I am still using Windows Media Player 11. My laptop crashed and I had to do a complete re-format. Luckily I have a USB portable hard drive and have my PC hard drive copied there.Can anyone tell me how I can transfer all of the thousands of songs on the back up drive back to the lap top drive and still be able to keep the same library and play lists? Thanks in advance....
