That's why Bush's State of the Union really surprised me - when he actually admitted that there was more that we could be doing to help that continent as he introduced his plan for sending them AIDS relief.
For the most part Americans like to pretend like Africa doesn't even exist. There's been more a thousand times the news coverage surrounding one mother dying in CA than a million dying African moms get.
