In this time of gathering, sharing and good will, it does make one think of the things one should be thankful for. Sadly, those things are remembered and then quickly forgotten.

In this time of financial crisis, I'm pretty thankful for having a secure, well paying job that I do enjoy and being able to provide for my own family. But with this, I am reminded of those that are hurting out there. Lately in our typical small sized city it does seem like there are more people wandering the streets and waiting to get into the shelter.

Last night while out driving around for a while, I was amazed at how many people were out on the streets.

When I grew up, we did not have a lot of money and my parents did not have disposable income, but we had a great family. I can still remember the arguments over money and bills.

Luckily for us, we don't have to have those conversations.

And while it seems many citizens are still spending like crazy on the credit train, it does pain me to think of those that are sitting around that all too real kitchen table worried about a life that is just one pay check away from the street.
