Blues' Legace suffers hip injury after tripping on carpet for Palin.

ST. LOUIS -- Blues goalie Manny Legace left after one period Friday night with a hip injury that occurred when he slipped on the carpet placed on the ice for Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The Alaska governor dropped the ceremonial first puck before the Blues hosted the Los Angeles Kings. A narrow carpet walkway was placed from the gate at the Blues bench to center ice for Palin, her husband and two of her daughters.

I realize this is an election year and e"effing"tc. but this is also a very long hockey season and even in the midst of an economical meltdown when you're watching your 401K and/or your investments meet up with your pocket lint for coffee, we still need to protect our goalies. I sure as hell, don't want to stare down a slap shot at point blank range (unless I have full dental.)
So, let's stop this grandstanding puck dropping before it gets out of hand. Ms. Palin, Mystery Alaska II will be shooting this December when you're home and have some free weekend time.
