I think Smorley and Peter have set you up pretty good. I'd second the Silvertone and the Parish Cafe. There is a Pho Pasteur (682 Washington Street) in walking distance as well which is an inexpensive Vietnamese place. Nothing fancy but good. I think these three meet what you are looking for. As far as drinking there are plenty of bars to hang out in...ha...not that I'd know anything about that...
