Let's look at this realistically. I think this stuff about "vicious attacks" on Palin is a load of bull. That is a GOP strategy, claim the media and the left are attacking her to build sympathy for her. Funny that the right never had these sorts of issues with attacking Hillary. It's a comical double standard but that's beside the point and the way it always is and I also feel both women, Hillary and Sarah, deserve everything they get...but really this is also beside the point.

Step back here and think about this. Palin is the new face here. McCain, Obama, and Biden have all been around a long time now and have been through all the media scrutiny. Palin is, like it or not, going through a public vetting process and really it is the media's RESPONSIBILITY to do this. In a Democracy when you are going to put a person in a position of power and a heartbeat away from being president the public has the right to know all about this person. She has only been on this giant stage for a matter of days at this point and of course they are now digging up everything they can on her and they should. This woman was elected to public office by the votes of 600 and then 900 people in two elections in a little town in Alaska. Even the Republican mastermind Karl Rove calls it absurd to put such a person on a national ticket...except of course when his party does it.

For you guys to claim these are "vicious attacks" is absurd. It's also not a surprise because if anybody from either party suddenly appeared out of nowhere on the national stage the media would swoop down on them and begin to dig...that is their job after all. Just as it is the RNC's job to attempt to counter this by making up all kinds of nonsense and hiding Palin from the media by keeping her away from interviews until they drill all the talking points into her. So really all that's going on here is the normal process.

Also if I may just point out that there has not been some huge bump for McCain from his Palin choice. Our boy Pat is using the RNC spin numbers to make it appear Palin has this huge wave of support behind her. The reality is there was a bump from putting a fresh new face on the scene that the media plastered all over the place. The real bump for McCain was only three points which these campaign people on both sides see as no swing either way, they still see the race as a dead heat due to polling margin of error. Basically a 3 point swing to them counts as nothing. So the Democrats and Obama are not "running scared" due to the Palin choice, that's once again hilarious RNC nonsense.

Basically, listen to Ross, he's a fellow conservative and he has this nailed. Palin was picked because they brought Rove back into the mix. It is stunning to a lot of people on both sides of the fence that McCain caved into this stuff but the fact is McCain was set on Lieberman as his VP pick. The RNC folks got nutty over this and that's why the sudden shift to this unknown from Alaska. The Palin pick was designed to reignite the "culture war" that Rove used to get Bush elected. That is why she is there, period.

It's all about Red vs Blue and Christian vs Liberal again. It's sad and absurd and really pathetic. It's also all stuff McCain never stood for and that's why this pick makes him look so dishonest in every way. He sold out and everybody knows it. This pick is damaging him in many ways and it is not going to help him win. It has made people on both sides of the aisle ask what has happened to John McCain and guys...that ain't a good thing.
